Ants — From Kitchen Nuisance to Structural Pest

While most ant species are merely a nuisance, ant infestations in homes across Delhi NCR can range from the common sugar-seeking black ant trails in kitchens to more damaging species such as carpenter ants that excavate wood to build their nests. Ants enter properties through tiny cracks in walls, under doors, and along plumbing and electrical conduits in search of food and water. A single ant colony can contain hundreds of thousands of workers, and visible forager ants on countertops represent only a tiny fraction of the total population. Ants contaminate food, and certain species — including fire ants and red ants — deliver painful stings. Carpenter ants cause structural damage to wood similar to termites, though they do not eat the wood but merely hollow it out. Colony elimination rather than surface killing is essential for permanent control.
